The program offers a new model of leadership designed specifically for the community sector and youth agencies. The program has been designed to help meet current skill gaps in the Human Service Industry by addressing the current shortages in Leadership management of Youth Work practice. It provides theoretical and practical insights, and a qualification, for both experienced Youth Work practitioners as well as for those from other disciplinary and professional backgrounds.

Exemptions for existing Post Graduate qualifications and recognised prior learning will be considered case by case as per RMIT's RPL and credit transfer policy.
Pathways have been designed into this program so you can exist and graduate with a Graduate Certificate, or if you wish continue to complete a Graduate Diploma or a Master Degree.

Applicants must have a recognised university qualification or equivalent, and demonstrated capacity to pursue study at a postgraduate level.

Youth Work is currently not subject to external accreditation as this is not a requirement. However, there has been considerable interest in recent years to professionalise, a development that will have implications for individual practitioners and the sector more generally if and when it occurs. RMIT Youth Work team are actively involved in the professionalisation project and will ensure that the new Masters program meets the requirements of any accrediting or regulatory body.
The program values industry feedback, and holds regular Program Advisory Committee meetings with industry representation.

You will be able to utilise a full range of library services of RMIT, complemented by libraries at other Universities, as required. In addition to these services, electronic material will be provided through the Distributed Learning System and the library E-reserve system necessitating internet access and computer literacy. The print and electronic resources made available to you will complement the material presented in your lecture notes.
