ISIS offers confidential consultation, support and non-academic advising to all International students at RMIT. ISIS staff assists students to make the transition to a new educational and cultural environment as well as advocate on behalf of students on a range of issues related to academic and administrative matters.
You will need to contact RMIT International Services and discuss fees enquiries there. They are located in Building 108, level 4 in Bourke St. Tel 9925 5156
Unfortunately International students are not eligible for any public transport concession. This means that you have to pay the full fare on all forms of transport, trains, buses and trams.If you are using the tram service out to the Bundoora campus you can obtain a concession ticket for this service only, from the Student Union at Bundoora. (Building 202, level 2)
Your lecturer will probably let you know how he/she prefers to be addressed. Many lecturers are happy to be called by their first name. Lecturers will let you know the format of the lecture. Asking questions at the appropriate time is encouraged.
There are many ways you can meet other students and join in the social life of the university. There are student groups especially for International students such as RAIS (RMIT Association of International Students) and NBA's (National Based Assoc) representing different countries. These groups support students and organise social events. The Sport and Recreation part of RMIT Union organises many sporting and recreational activities for all students and the Student Union is another meeting place for all students. International Student Advisers and Counsellors can also assist you in this area.
You must notify changes to your address in case we need to contact you urgently. Under visa condition 8533 you must notify your education provider of your address in Australia within 7 days of arrival, and notify your education provider of any change in your address within 7 days.For students with visa condition 8506 you must notify DIMIA and RMIT at least two working days in advance of any change in your residential address in Australia.
You can apply for a Work Right Visa from RMIT International, Building 108, Level 4 or DIMIA. There is an application fee of $50 which must be paid by EFTPOS or credit card. Remember, it is important that you comply with work limitations specified on your visa.
It is best to arrive in Australia several days before enrolment to allow time to acclimatise and get to know your new environment. This will also give you time to attend orientation activities as well as find suitable accommodation, providing you with a sound basis on which to commence your studies.

The Centre for International Students and Scholars (CISS) holds a Returning Home program each semester for final year students.This program provides students with a comprehensive range of information and services to assist students to prepare for returning home.
At the start of each semester, ISIS holds an International Expo, showcasing a range of services available to International students on and off campus.ISIS also hosts the University Welcome, a major reception where new International students can make contact with key staff and student associations.
