EndNote: managing your references
Use EndNote to:
- gather, store and manage references
- automatically create and format bibliographies in a chosen referencing style
- search and retrieve records from remote catalogues and databases
The University makes EndNote available on campus computers and for downloading to your computer.
Come to our EndNote for beginners class at the Library and learn how to create, store and manage your references.
EndNote for beginners classes are conducted in PC labs using Endnote X5 and MS Word 2010.
Although we can help you with all the EndNote basics that we cover in our beginners classes, we are unable to assist with the more advanced elements of the software, fix your libraries or Word documents.
We have, however, compiled a useful list of places that can answer your questions. Go to the ‘Help’ tab on this page for more information.
Tips:
- Endnote is useful at research-level as large numbers of references can be stored in Endnote libraries, but using this software does involve a learning curve.
- There are other bibliographic management tools available – and some are free. We looked at Mendeley and Zotero. And you may find EndNote Web easier to use than EndNote for desktop.
