Adam's fascination with anatomy and the health sciences sparked his interest in studying myotherapy.
Advanced Diploma of Remedial Massage (Myotherapy)
RMIT's industry focus and emphasis on practical skills puts me ahead of students from other institutions studying the same discipline.
I’d always had a fascination with anatomy and the health sciences so I came to RMIT to pursue an interest in an area where those two fields meet – myotherapy. To my delight, I’ve since discovered that I’m also quite good at it.
RMIT’s industry focus and emphasis on practical skills puts me ahead of students from other institutions studying the same discipline. More than just teaching me the theory behind myotherapy, the hands-on experience allows me to become good at what I do because it’s all real.
As part of my studies, I’ve been directly involved in providing myotherapy services at an AFL draft camp and in iron man triathlons. This has given me the chance to work on a range of both chronic and acute conditions.
The program encourages me to push myself in new situations but the highlight has been drawing on the experience of others – particularly the program instructors who have been better than I’d even imagined as a resource and as peers.
I strongly encourage anyone with an interest in myotherapy to consider studying at RMIT. For me, it's even had benefits in my home life, as I’ve been able to apply my knowledge with my son’s soccer team which is pretty rewarding.
