RMIT has just published the first edition of Here Be Dragons (HBD), a collaborative magazine featuring topical discussion about global issues and experiences.
The inaugural edition, edited by Dr Julian C H Lee, features contributions from current students, staff and alumni of the Bachelor of Arts (International Studies), Bachelor of Arts (International Studies) (Honours) and Master of International Development programs as well as PhD candidates from the Centre for Global Research.
“The main motivation for this new initiative was to create a sense of community across the Global Studies programs,” said Lee. “It has been great to work with and bring together students and alumni with such diverse areas of interest and who feel so positively about Global Studies.”
The 54-page edition includes articles, reviews, photos and poetry covering a range of interests and values of the contributors including the pursuit of social justice, a globally-informed perspective, and critical reflection.
The magazine is expected to continue with the release of a second edition later in the year.
