RMIT prides itself on creating opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to succeed in their chosen field. The following lists the range of RMIT and externally-funded scholarships available to further your personal and academic success.

Diplomas and Certificates

• Evelyn Boekemann Scholarship For Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students in a diploma or degree program; worth a one-off payment of up to $1000; applications now closed for 2013.
• RMIT Indigenous Study Support Scholarship For Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students; worth $2500 per year; applications open September 2013.
• RMIT Indigenous Village and Accommodation Support Scholarships For Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students who need to relocate to study at RMIT in Melbourne; provides accommodation assistance; applications open September 2013.
• St Vincent de Paul Grant for Students with Disabilities For students who need assistive technology to study; application times vary

• Bayside Group Indigenous Scholarship For Aboriginal and/or Torres strait Islander degree students; worth $7500 in your second and possibly subsequent years; applications have now closed for 2013.

• Indigenous Access Scholarship For Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander degree students moving to Melbourne from a remote or rural area to start an RMIT program; worth $4659; applications now closed for 2013.
• Indigenous Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship For Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander degree students from a remote or rural area; worth $4939 per year for up to four years; applications now closed for 2013.
• Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship For Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander degree students; worth $2469 per year for up to four years; applications now closed for 2013.

• Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA) Scholarships
  For undergraduate engineering students. Applications closed for 2012.
• Australian Rotary Health Indigenous Health Scholarship
  For study in mental health and other health areas. Closing dates vary.
• Australian Psychological Society - Bendi Largo Bursary
  For Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students undertaking postgraduate psychology who face difficult financial circumstances. Applications close 31 March 2013.
• Charlie Perkins Scholarships
  Postgraduate scholarships allowing talented Indigenous Australians to study at the University of Oxford for up to three years.
• Department of Human Services Aboriginal Scholarships
  Assists Aboriginal students to complete studies relevant to either a career in funded health or allied health sector. See website for closing dates.
• Fulbright Indigenous Scholarship
  For Indigenous Postgraduate, Postdoctoral, Professional or Senior scholars to undertake a research, study or lecture program in the United States, in any field of academic study. Applications open 1 June 2013.
• Governor-General’s Indigenous Student Teacher Scholarships
  To assist and support Indigenous university students to obtain a teaching degree. No awards will be made for 2013.
• Heart Foundation Australian Indigenous Scholarship
  For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to undertake a PhD or Masters (by research) in cardiovascular research. Applications close 28 June 2013.
• Indigenous Allied Health Australia Scholarships
  For studies in allied health areas. Closing dates vary.
• Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) Scholarship Fund
  For mature-age Indigenous students to complete tertiary qualifications, enhancing their community’s development. Applications close 30 September 2012.
• Indigenous Cadetship Support (ICS)
  For cadetships that provide money to cover living costs during study, and paid work experience opportunities. Closing dates vary.
• Indigenous Rotary Intrain Scholarships
  For Indigenous students in health, allied health and community sector areas. Applications close 30 November 2012.
• Indigenous Scholarships for Students
  Website listing a wide-range of scholarships for Indigenous students.
• Indigenous Youth Leadership Program (IYLP)
  Provides financial support and leadership development opportunities.
• Koorie Teaching Scholarships
  For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to undertake teaching study. Application date to be confirmed.
• Koori Tertiary Scholarship Program
  Assists Koori students to undertake full-time study in a range of justice-related fields.
• Marilyn Godley Scholarship for Australian Indigenous Students
  For female Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students in an undergraduate degree. Applications close 31 March 2013.
• Mary MacKillop Foundation
  For students undertaking tertiary studies, who have a commitment to indigenous education, health, human rights or justice.
• Minoru Kokari Scholarship for Fieldwork
  For a postgraduate fieldwork or related research in Australian indigenous history. Applications now closed.
• Neville Bonner Memorial Scholarship
  For Indigenous Australians to study Honours in Political Science or related subjects. 2013 application date to be announced.
• Planning Pathways: Scholarships for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students
  For Indigenous Australian students studying undergraduate tertiary planning degrees.
• Puggy Hunter Memorial Scholarship Scheme
  To study in an entry level qualification in a health-related discipline at an Australian university or TAFE (Certificate IV and above). 2013 applications now closed.
• Roberta Sykes Harvard Club of Australia Scholarship
  Provides funding to Indigenous postgraduate students who wish to undertake study at Harvard University. Applications close 15 December 2012.
• VicRoads Indigenous Tertiary Scholarships
  For indigenous undergraduate students in a variety of study areas.
