Undergraduate applications
To apply for an undergraduate degree program commencing in Semester 1 2009, you may be required to complete a VTAC application and submit it electronically via the VTAC web site, or complete an RMIT University direct application form (PDF 78KB 8p). If you are applying for programs commencing in Semester 2 2009 (midyear entry) you should complete a direct application form (PDF 78KB 8p). To confirm the correct application method, you are strongly advised to consult individual RMIT program web pages or brochures. To find an RMIT program, use the search function on the Future Students home page. Extra requirementsSome programs may require the completion of extra requirements as part of the application process. An extra requirement may be an interview, the submission of a folio or pre-selection kit, or the completion of a supplementary information form. For more information about the extra requirements for your program of interest, please check the individual RMIT program web pages and/or the 2009 VTAC Guide. Supplementary information forms are available for download from this site. Gaining credit for previous study and experienceAll undergraduate applicants may apply to have previous education, work or life experiences credited to form a recognised part of their study. FeesYou may apply for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) (previously known as HECS place) or a Fee Paying Place (FPP). See the higher education fees site for more information. VTAC applicationThe vast majority of full-time and part-time undergraduate programs require an application through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). The VTAC web site allows you to apply online from 4 August 2008. VTAC administers the application process for all participating education institutions, but does not select students for individual programs, determine selection criteria or selection requirements. All applicants will be advised by VTAC in writing regarding the outcome of their application for a place in an RMIT program. All letters of offer will include the program name or specialisation/discipline, where appropriate, attendance mode (e.g. face-to-face classes, online, off-campus), load (full-time or part-time) and campus for which the offer is made. They will also include information about how and when to accept offers, enrol, arrange to enrol by proxy (PDF 38KB),or defer a place. Offers are conditional on your completion of prerequisite qualifications or upon other factors detailed in the letter of offer. Failure to meet the conditions of offer will result in the withdrawal of the offer and cancellation of the enrolment, if enrolment was completed. Future students should refer to the VTAC Guide to confirm the method of application, extra requirements, availability of programs and application costs. The VTAC Guide can be purchased at newsagents from late July, or viewed on VTAC’s web site. Applicants who are eligible for an equity admission should complete the SEAS form (available from the equity admissions web page), including supporting statements and evidence. This is an extra application form that allows for consideration of disadvantage in the selection process. It is submitted along with a VTAC application. Current Year 12 applicants who have been disadvantaged in their final year of schooling only, and who have made application for entry to tertiary study through VTAC, may be eligible for SEAS Special Year 12 Consideration.
