The Master of Biotechnology and Business (MBB) links scientific skills in the life sciences with business expertise relevant to biotechnology management, technology transfer and the commercialisation of research product. The program is presented by academic and research staff from RMIT SET and RMIT Business and by experts from major biotechnology organisations and service providers in Australia. RMIT SET and RMIT Business have a strong research base which underpins all courseware. A high level of research and industry participation keeps the program continuously responsive to the rapidly developing technology and business environments and to changing needs in the global health science industry. General information is available at Postgraduate Study at RMIT DurationMasters: one and a half years full-time or three years part-time. This duration incorporates Graduate Diploma: one year full-time or two years part-time and Graduate Certificate: six months full-time or one year part-time. PathwaysManagement courses may be credited for students wishing to transfer to, or continue on to, study for an MBA from the RMIT Graduate School of Business, providing students meet MBA entry requirements.

The destination of graduates is likely to be middle-sized and large mature companies and organisations. With more experience they would be particularly valuable in small, specialist, R&D intensive, start-up and early-stage biotechnology companies which have a high requirement for expert scientific staff with business literacy. They would also be effective in government, regulatory and research organisations that work at the interface of science and technology and the marketplace. Graduates would also be equipped with a basis for self-employment and entrepreneurial activities. Entrance RequirementsProspective students will have a degree in science or related area; a minimum of three years industry experience; and good communication skills (oral and written). Selection will be based on qualifications, experience and interview.
