City Campus
2008 RMIT Open Day, Sunday 10 August, 10am - 4pm
Services Science has the goal of making productivity, quality, performance, compliance, growth, and learning improvements more predictable in work-sharing and risk-sharing (co-production) relationships. The Master of Business Services Science is the study of service systems-aimed at improving service systems. Jobs for graduates are available across all spheres of business and industry.
Masters: One and a half years full-time. This duration incorporates the Graduate Diploma: one year full-time and Graduate Certificate: six months full-time.
The major economies have grown to a point where virtually any organisation is a potential employer of MBSS graduates. MBSS is the application of scientific, management, and engineering disciplines to tasks that one organisation beneficially performs for and with another (i.e. services). These might include companies right across the sectors of health, retail, banking, farming, teaching, transport, manufacturing, publishing, telecommunications, education, libraries, and, in fact, most industries. Graduates are expected to effectively perform within the global context to apply scientific, management, and engineering know-how to augment the services that one organisation performs for and with another.
External accreditation and industry links
The program is relevant to the accreditation requirements of the Australian Computer Society (ACS). Accreditation of a relevant professional body (probably ACS) may be sought at a later time. The School of BIT has substantial links to the IT and business industry within both Australia and internationally. Employers and industry professionals are members of our Industry Advisory Board and various committees and they have contributed to both the initial development and ongoing improvement of this program. Their involvement ensures that the program remains relevant to the needs of graduates and graduate employers.
Many of the teaching staff within the program are practising (or have been) industry professionals with extensive industry experience and contact networks. This experience, when integrated into teaching and learning practice, enriches the student's learning environment.
These networks are further enhanced by the School's strong commitment to its Community and Industry Liaison Committee. The committee has actively been seeking community and industry input into the School's programs. This provides an opportunity for you to undertake studies in high-impact areas relevant to the community and industry at large.
The program requires a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in addition to the general requirements outlined in the link below.
