Dr Ruwini Edirisinghe uses mobile computing to develop tools and technologies to improve safety in the building and construction industry.

Dr Ruwini Edirisinghe utilises her expertise in ICT and mobile computing as a vessel to move across building and construction disciplines, servicing many aspects of construction management. She has developed: a safety climate benchmarking tool; computer supported argumentation for safe design decisions; innovative technologies to reduce risk exposure of construction workers; smart clothing and wearables for the construction industry; and mobile computing for construction and Building Information Modelling (BIM).
Dr Edirisinghe has a significant research track record of publications, attracting Category 2 and 3 funding and HDR candidate supervision. Ruwini’s research achievements resulted in her being awarded the Endeavour Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Award in 2010-2011. Her professional leadership activities include serving as a committee member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Region 10 Women in Engineering group as well as IEEE Victorian Women in Engineering group.
Dr Edirisinghe was awarded a VC Research Fellowship in 2015 and is based in the School of Property, Construction and Project Management.
