Fundamental studies on fabrication, morphology and performances of bi-layer electrospun nanofibre membrane.
The proposed research work aims to investigate the performances of bi-layer electrospun nanofibre membranes. Polymers from hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups will be selected as the main materials in preparing the membranes. The hydrophilic polymer will be applied directly onto the hydrophobic web or vice versa in order to create a bi-layer nanofibre composites. The performances between these layers will then be tested by using suitable adhesion test methods. Detailed study on bi-layer nanofibres properties such as the effect of different fibre diameters on wettability, filtration and liquid or water penetration will be discovered in the study. The aim of the proposed work is to determine a correlation between fibre properties and membrane performance
