How to apply for the Helen & Geoff Handbury Fellowship Program.
There is a call for applications once a year and they are advertised through regional media (including local radio stations) and community newsletters in the western Victoria region. Community applicants interested to know more about the fellowship or to find out what possibilities there are for collaborating with University researchers can contact the Fellowship office. Partnerships in the region and also with expertise in the area are highly encouraged.
Once you’ve determined whether your project is eligible to be considered for a grant, please send two copies of the application including all documentation, together with an email copy. This must be received by close of business at 5 pm on the closing date. Applications are then processed and short listed by the advisory group. Short listed candidates are interviewed before final results are announced.
Successful candidates are notified by mail and announcements are also made in local papers, radio stations and the university global email.

Expression of Interest for funding 2016 (application)
This application form is to be used when applying for a grant of $10,000 or less. The form will need to be accompanied by a detailed budget that describes the items for which fellowship funding is sought.
There are several requirements that you will need to be aware of as a recipient of a grant of The Helen and Geoff Handbury Fellowship Program.
- Fellowship projects are usually undertaken within a twelve month period. However, grant recipients must inform the Fellowship office of any changes, or delays in the completion of the project.
- Recipients of the Fellowship are required to provide a report that summarises current evidence for more compelling presentations; or they may be developed as collaborative partnerships to achieve various outcomes.
- Applications that have implications in respect to RMIT University Code of Ethics will be required to go through an Ethics submission process prior to consideration by the advisory group (for example, if they include interviews, taking photographs). The Fellowship office will provide assistance in this process.
- All grant recipients are required to acknowledge the support of their project through the Helen and Geoff Handbury Fellowship Program in any published or display material related to their project. A digital copy of the Program’s logo can be sought from the Fellowship office.
