This project examined the background, history and vision of Hamilton Institute of Rural Learning (HIRL).
The research was conducted through the study of existing archives/resources as well as the generation of new data through interviews with remaining members of early HIRL committees and RMIT staff involved in the architecture and landscaping of HIRL facilities.
The application was submitted to ensure that valuable information about the early beginnings of the organisation is not lost with time.
The findings of this research form a booklet available for sale to the general public as an important and lasting record of HIRL’s history. 11 topics are covered, from the history and concept to the resurgence and a look towards the future as well as biographies of key people.
This Fellowship was awarded to Chris Cole, Secretary of HIRL.
