Anna Bowen complemented her postgraduate studies in International Development with an internship in the Centre for Global Research.
"As a complement to my postgraduate study (Master of Social Science, International Development), my internship with the Centre provided an opportunity to build on my academic and field experiences and broaden my understanding of some of the more complex concepts underpinning current global affairs.
"A collaborative research project examining transitional justice mechanisms in post-conflict Timor-Leste exposed me to a new area of enquiry and encouraged me to develop my academic research and writing competencies. As the research continues, this project will culminate in a published report.
"Coinciding with the internship were opportunities to expand my academic networks such as the Global Studies Seminar Series, cross-disciplinary conferences and regular engagement with teaching staff and peers. The internship gave me an all access pass to the Centre, which has enriched both my academic and professional potential."
