This project aims to elaborate the meaning and practice of innovation in the creative economy in a context of profound policy upheaval and economic change.
The substantive focus is practices of innovation in visual arts and fashion design. It investigates the character of work in these fields, and the ways creative professionals manage the insecurity, unpredictability and opportunity typical of project-based work in the creative economy. The study will lay the foundation for the formulation of new models of innovation in creative practice. The longer-term aim is to provide novel insights into how these models may be promoted and sustained.
