RMIT University is proud to host, The Animation Machine - The 24th annual Society for Animation Studies Conference to be held at RMIT University from June 25-27, 2012. Though this is the 24th annual SAS conference, it also marks the 25th anniversary of the Society. The SAS conference will provide a forum for scholars and practitioners from around the world to come together and give presentations on all aspects of animation history, theory and criticism.
An opening animation-screening event will be held for conference delegates at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) on Sunday, June 24 as part of the Melbourne International Animation Festival (MIAF). Following this, the three-day conference will be held at RMIT University’s Storey Hall. The keynote speakers include Thomas Lamarre (McGill University, Canada) and Tomotaka Takahashi (The University of Tokyo, Japan) and there are currently over 100 presentations scheduled. In addition there will be a number of other animation-related events that will take place, making Melbourne a very animated city at this time.
