‘I chose RMIT because of the curriculum structure it offers a social work student. The detailed subjects alongside an intensive Field Placement program is a perfect for a social work career, as it gives you a great theoretical and practical balance.
The best thing would have to be the support from staff. Not only are staff passionate about their chosen topics but they are constantly informing students of extra opportunities to gain future knowledge & experience

'The degree provided a nice balance between what are two diverse areas of study: social sciences and psychology. The psychology component equipped me to think systematically and to carry out rigorous research while focusing on issues of the individual. The social sciences encouraged me to look at the world at a macro level and provided inspiration for research areas. These combined, equipped me well to move into a career in social welfare and research.'

'International Development at RMIT has offered a tailored course to my interest area with a program geared toward industry entry and I look forward to gaining field experience during in internship with the UN in East Timor in the second half of 2011. The future setting of politics, governance, economy and community is in the international sphere more and more meaningfully as globalisation increases. The area of International Development is particularly important, as this trend continues we cannot hope to have a sustainable future without addressing the inequalities of our current positions and working toward prosperity for all.'
