Australian Catholic University– Camillus campus (Ballarat)

Camillus offers five wheelchair accessible rooms for students with a disability. The Residence offers handrails, an accessible path or travel, a designated parking bay and a rail in the shower facilities. Please contact the Residence at the time of enrolment to coordinate accommodation requirements.
Features - access to library and chapel facilities, canteen, vending machines, free on-campus parking, bookshop, post office, various student services and recreation facilities.

Deakin University– Geelong campus

Deakin College offers three fully accessible purpose built bedrooms for students who have a disability. The College features height alterations to kitchens, ramps, paths, remote activated doors, duress alarms, appropriate lighting and sight strips. Wheelchair bathrooms and wet areas are also provided. Identified parking and zero level entry to most buildings are available. Please contact the College two months prior to commencement at the institute.
Features: The Geelong Colleges are part of the campus and are set in a picturesque landscape close to all of the University's main facilities; Peter Thwaites Lecture Theatre (LT1), library, computer labs, dining room, shops and bank. Sporting facilities such as the tennis courts, ovals and the KD Stewart Centre which houses squash courts, basketball courts and a gymnasium are all within a short walking distance from the Residences. A daily bus service operates from the University to the city and surrounding areas.

Deakin University – Melbourne campus (Burwood)

Burwood Student Village provides six accessible rooms for students who have a disability. The village compromises accessible bathrooms; kitchen benches are wheelchair accessible; light switches are large and wheelchair accessible wardrobes. Disabled parking spaces are also available near adjacent to the Village. It is important that the student makes contact with the Village in January of the year of commencement.
Features: The Melbourne Campus of the University is situated in Burwood and is easily accessed by public transport. The Student Village is within walking distance of the main campus and the local shopping centre. Tennis courts are available on campus and walking paths and barbeques are provided along Gardiners Creek, running adjacent to the Residences.

Deakin University – Warrnambool campus

The Mansion on Warrnambool Campus provides one accessible room. The unit is wheelchair accessible with designated parking adjacent to the residence. Contact the Student Residential Services in November / December prior to commencing studies.
Features: The Warrnambool campus of Deakin University is situated approximately five kilometres east of the city of Warrnambool. The Student Residences are set amidst spacious grounds that extend to the banks of the Hopkins River. A nine hole golf course, tennis and squash courts, football oval and gymnasium are featured on campus. A daily bus service operates from the University to the city and surrounding areas.

La TrobeUniversity – Bendigo campus

Orde House is wheelchair accessible, however facilities are limited (one to three places available). The Service provides hearing loops, visual emergency alarms and a phone line for special equipment as required. Designated disabled parking is provided near the residences. It is important to contact Orde House 8-10 weeks before studies commence.
Features: Attention has been given to provide assorted styles of residences to support a diverse and vibrant student community. Care has been taken in the design of buildings and the provision of quality furnishings to enhance students' lifestyles and assist students to study effectively and live comfortably. A large garden provides barbeque facilities, outdoor seating and recreation facilities. Orde House is suitable for mature age, international or very quiet students.

La Trobe University – Bundoora campus

Glenn College – Glenn College North and South Wing compromises a concrete ramp with kitchens, laundry and recreation rooms being wheelchair accessible. The College is fitted with security door locks with parking very close to the residences.
Menzies College – Menzies College offers 4 fully equipped rooms for students with physical disabilities (kitchen, lounge and bathroom have been modified). Menzies also offers 3 rooms equipped for students with hearing impairments. Disabled parking spaces are close to residences.
Features: There are numerous facilities on campus and external to La Trobe that are easily reached from both Glenn and Menzies Colleges. These include La Trobe Medical Centre, Sports and Recreational Centre, Computer Study Hall, Northland Shopping Complex & on campus services such as counselling, dental service and religious activities.

Monash University– Clayton campus

Farrer Hall – Farrer Hall provides one accessible room. Features include wheelchair accessible kitchen benches, continuous path of travel, designated access parking bays, appropriate door handles, widths and door locks. It also features lever handles, master key access, kerb ramps, self-opening doors, a seat in shower, slip resistant floors, audible emergency devices.
South East Flats These are located in the south east corner of the campus, just minutes from the main campus buildings and lecture theatres.
Features: Farrer Hall provides residents a blend of intellectual stimulation academic assistance, culturally diverse recreational facilities, residential support and enrichment programs and social opportunities. South East Flats features include master key access, continuous path of travel, accessible door widths, lever handles, audible emergency alarms in 2 accessible rooms.

Monash University – Peninsula campus

Samada Street Residential Service provides one accessible bedroom with a continuous access path of travel, designated access parking bays, level door handles, extra wide doorways, lever handle taps, wheelchair accessible kitchen and bathroom benches, slip resistant flooring, wheelchair access shower recess with hand rails, seat and adjustable shower head with hand held option. There is also a wheelchair accessible laundry.
Student Village House offers three accessible rooms with a continuous path of travel, designated access parking bays, level door handles, extra wide doorways, lever handle taps, wheelchair accessible kitchen and bathroom benches, slip resistant flooring, wheelchair access shower recess with hand rails, seat and adjustable shower head with hand held option. There is also a wheelchair accessible laundry.
Features: Both are within walking distance of all campus facilities, including the dining and recreational facilities. They are also within walking distance of Leawarra railway station, one stop from the busy town centre of Frankston. Other sporting facilities are located close by at Jubilee Park. Prospective students are to contact Peninsula Residential Services prior to the start of the academic year.

Monash University – Gippsland campus

Gippsland Student Residences provides accessible bathrooms & kitchen facilities. It also offers designated access parking bays.
Features: Close proximity to the Churchill Shopping/Retail centre and all its associated facilities. Residents are within an 800m walk from a supermarket, post office, bank, hairdresser, newsagent, video-store, hotel, restaurant, bakery, take-away food stores, and others. Should students become ill or require medical attention during their stay at Gippsland, two medical centres, a dentist and a chemist are also located in the Churchill shopping precinct.

RMITUniversity

RMIT does not have any on campus accommodation for students. We have provided some off-campus options students might be interested in at the end of this resource and will update it regularly as we become aware of other facilities for students with disabilities. Additionally, the University of Melbourne offers a limited number of places to RMIT city campus students in some of their residential colleges, for example, in University College. SwinburneUniversity – Hawthorn campus

Swinburne Residential College provides wheelchair accessible bathrooms; seat in shower recess with shower head support and support rails and Swinburne Apartments provide two ground level apartments that have accessible shower facilities. Both are quite modern and only opened in the mid-1990’s.
Features: The Student Residences are within the campus grounds and minutes away from the Glenferrie railway station. Prospective students are required to contact the Institute upon acceptance of a formal offer to study.

Swinburne University – Lilydale campus

Lilydale Student Village is only three years old and provides six accessible rooms and ensuites for students with a disability. The rooms offer a continuous accessible path of travel to rooms and designated parking bays. The rooms also have lever style door handles, easy to operate locks, accessible door widths, lever handles on bathroom and kitchen taps, seat in shower recess, slip resistant floor and support rails in the bathroom.
Features: The Lilydale Student Village overlooks scenic Lillydale Lake, about one hour's drive from Melbourne. The Village is a short walk from the academic buildings, leisure facilities and public transport connections. Prospective students are required to contact the Institute upon acceptance of a formal offer to study.

University of Melbourne- Parkville

Ormond College provides six accessible rooms for students with a disability. The College offers ramps, disabled toilet and bathroom, designated parking and self-opening doors. Trinity College and University College also provide limited accessible accommodation for students with a disability.
Features:Ormond College is the largest residential college for the University of Melbourne. It is adjacent to the University; 5 minutes walk to most faculties; 1km from the City and close to public transport and shops. Prospective students are required to contact the College as soon as they have made the decision to apply for a place at the University of Melbourne. Trinity College and University College are immediately adjacent to the University of Melbourne, as well as being a quick tram ride away from the city centre. It is essential prospective students contact the relevant College in December prior to the year of commencement.

Dookie College provides one wheelchair accessible room
Features: The Campus Centre is self-contained with a lounge bar, library, post office, petrol station, primary school, student centre for clubs and recreation, and part-time counsellor.

Longerenong provides twenty three ground floor rooms with accessible door widths, access to all facilities including showers, toilets, kitchen/lounge and the dining room via the external extremities of the building. Two of the ground floor rooms have ensuite facilities including a toilet and a shower.
Features: The residences are in reach of banking facilities, a bookshop, student counsellor, laundry, library, computer facility, post box, telephones, and sporting and recreational facilities.

Victoria University

Victoria University owns and operates the Student Village, not located on campus grounds but in Maribyrnong, a suburb approximately nine kilometres west of Melbourne’s city centre. At this stage we are awaiting advice from the staff as to what rooms are accessible for students with a disability. Details will be published on this site when they are made available.
Features: The Student Village is well served by public transport with bus and tram connections available from the main gate. Recreation facilities include a gymnasium, tennis courts, basketball court, soccer field, volleyball court, 24-hour computer lab, table tennis and billiards. Student Village hosts regular social events including BBQ’s, film nights and sporting competitions.
