About this website

The Web Accessibility Framework is now available to guide web development, purchasing of applications and recruitment of web specialists at RMIT.

By adopting the Web Accessibility Framework, you will enhance accessibility and usability of web resources for people who have a vision, hearing, physical, cognitive, or learning disability.

Although inspired by the needs of people with disabilities, the ultimate goal of this approach is to provide everyone with more options and control when interacting with our web resources, and accommodate new, old, mobile and assistive technologies as much as possible.

This website contains information on the web accessibility requirements at RMIT. The Framework and related documentation are password protected. The site is far from finished so keep an eye on this space for best practice examples, recommended solutions, etc. Better still; help me build it so that it becomes a useful resource on all things web accessibility.

About me

I’m Iza Bartosiewicz and I’ve been seconded to the position of Project Officer, Web Accessibility Support Service till the end of February 2009. My job is to raise awareness about web accessibility, promote the Web Accessibility Framework and help you learn about accessible web design. I’m also planning to establish a support network/community of practice for web accessibility so if you are passionate about web accessibility, I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

If you have any concerns, if you need some accessibility advice, have ideas about this site or if you’d like to arrange training for yourself and your colleagues, please contact me.
