Key activities

Christopher Ziguras is Deputy Dean, Learning & Teaching, International in the School of Global Studies, Social Science and Planning. In this capacity he oversees educational development and quality assurance for the school’s academic programs in one of RMIT’s largest schools across a wide range of disciplines, including social science, social work, community services, global studies, justice studies, translating and interpreting, languages, environment and planning. His current role also involves overseeing the School’s extensive international activities.

His research focuses on international education policy, particularly related to higher education in the Asia Pacific region.

In 2011 he was awarded the Vice-Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award, in recognition of sustained commitment to excellence in international education, through exemplary teaching practice, academic leadership and research.

Dr Ziguras is a member of the International Education Association of Australia, the Australian and New Zealand Comparative and International Education Society, the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia. He is involved in fostering links between academic researchers, government and the higher education industry through his active participation in the Research Committee of the International Education Association of Australia.

  • Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM) Award for Best Educational Resource, 1998. Awarded to Court Stories, a 20-minute educational video program I wrote with film production company Screen Productions for Victoria Legal Aid, Human Services Victoria and the Justice Department
  • US International Film and Video Festival Awards, Silver Screen Award – Visitors’ Centres and Museums, 1998, awarded to Mildura – Reflections, Echoes, Dreams, a 10-minute video program I wrote with media production company Australian Business Theatre for the Mildura Rural and City Council
  • Australian Postgraduate Research (Priority) Award, Monash University, 1993-96
