Equity and Diversity Plan to 2010
The Equity and Diversity Plan relates to both staff and student equity.
The Plan sets out the priorities and activities RMIT will undertake in the next three years to support RMIT’s vision and commitment to building a community where all staff and students are treated with dignity and respect, and where diversity is valued.
The Plan focuses on four priority areas:
- Ensuring that staff and students understand their individual and collective responsibility to value the contribution of all members of the RMIT community to a rich and diverse work and study environment.
- Developing new and creative strategies to ensure access, participation, retention and success of equity group students, and equal opportunity for staff.
- Making the University environment a rewarding and safe place to work and study, where staff and student diversity is supported and valued.
- Creating an environment that is free from all forms of discrimination and offensive behaviour based on racial vilification, bigotry, ethnocentrism, prejudice and racism.
