What is SEAS?

SEAS (Special Entry Access Schemes) is the name of the special entry scheme RMIT participates in through the VTAC application process. SEAS is for applicants who have been disadvantaged in their access to education. SEAS has two parts to it: Access and Equity and Year 12 Special Consideration. Year 12 Special Consideration and SEAS is centrally assessed at VTAC and is available through the VTACsystem.

Access and equity

There are eight categories that applicants to RMIT can apply under in SEAS based on equity group. These categories reflect equity groups designated by the Federal Government as under-represented in post-compulsory education. These include Non-English speaking background, Recognition as an Indigenous Australian, Difficult family circumstances, Disadvantaged socio-economic background, Rural or isolated applicants, Disability or long-term medical condition, Refugee background and SNAP (Schools Network Access Program). Applicants can apply under more than one SEAS category if they are eligible.

Who is it for?

SEAS is available to Year 12 and Non-Year 12 applicants to RMIT through the VTAC system. Only Permanent Residents, Humanitarian Visa holders and Australian Citizens are able to use SEAS. International students are unable to use SEAS.

What is ACESS?

Alternative Category Entry Selection Scheme is the access scheme used for direct entry to RMIT. It is used for applications made directly to RMIT such as part-time TAFE programs. ACESS has the same equity categories and eligibility requirements as SEAS.
