Barbara Norman is the Research Partnerships Manager of the Global Cities Research Institute Research and Innovation Portfolio RMIT University, a Research Associate with the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute and an Adjunct Professor with the University of Canberra – Planning, Housing and Coastal Environments. Barbara has an extensive professional background in urban and regional planning has worked at a senior level in the Victorian, NSW and ACT public sectors, local government and run her own consultancy. Barbara is a Life Fellow and past National President of the Planning Institute of Australia, an Honorary Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (UK) and a member of the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand. Barbara is also Vice President Australia of EAROPH (Eastern Regional Organisation for Planning and Human Settlements).
Barbara’s research and teaching interests include urban and regional planning, housing, integrated coastal management and climate change adaptation. Barbara was the recipient of a Centenary Medal for her contribution to the community through urban and regional planning.
