Income support for Master students

Learn about student income support payments available to eligible master by coursework students.

You may be eligible for student income support payments from the Commonwealth Government if you are undertaking an approved tertiary program, such as a

  • graduate certificate or graduate diploma program
  • professionally oriented masters by coursework program that is essential for entry to or employment in a profession, and
    • the qualification is the minimum requirement for registration with a professional body and for entry to a profession, or
    • the program provides the fastest pathway to professional entry offered by RMIT, or
    • the program is the only pathway to professional entry offered by RMIT.

Program approval

Master by coursework programs are approved by the Commonwealth for student payments through an annual application round. Approval is based on set criteria and granted on a conditional basis. More information about this process is available from the Department of Social Services website.

Student payment eligibility

If you are enrolled in an eligible program you will also need to satisfy all other student payment eligibility requirements, including personal, parental or partner income tests. You can contact Centrelink on 13 2490 or visit the Services Australia website for further information about student income support entitlements, your eligibility and how to apply.
