I can’t imagine doing anything else as there is no other field that marries the technical, artistic and individual passion so completely.
I played games throughout my childhood and when I was looking into my study options I realised that it could be a career and not just a hobby. I now can’t imagine doing anything else as there is no other field that marries the technical, artistic and individual passion so completely.
I chose RMIT as it offered the best combination of games related degrees, particularly Digital Art (Games) and Games and Graphics Programming.
Both courses had an amazing social learning vibe and I've made many life-long friends.
I participated in a couple of extra-curricular activities including taekwondo and attended a few anime club sessions. The taekwondo was a great break from studies, but the best experience was going to life drawing classes in QV with my classmates and gaining skills outside of class with them.
Through my studies I developed numerous technical skills including 3D modelling, texturing and coding in various languages. The most valuable skills were working with people, teamwork, management and general confidence. I gained the ability to manage, communicate, empathise and socialise with team members to be an effective producer in small and medium team environments.
I received the Vice Chancellor List Award (top 2% of graduates) for my cumulative GPA of 3.9 when graduating from Games and Graphics Programming. I was the recipient of GCAP assist in 2014 and GDC assist and the Film Vic International Fellowship in 2015.
After finishing the Film Vic International Fellowship at Media Molecule as a production fellow, I secured full-time work there as an Associate Producer. My biggest achievement has been assisting in the production and shipping of the PS4 Tearaway Unfolded.
I plan to gain experience internationally and then return to Melbourne to start a world class games company, sourcing local talent.
