Ejanul uses a variety of innovative techniques and technologies to create a positive, caring and stimulating learning environment where students can achieve their full potential.
I try to do more than just teach mathematics to my students; I also aspire to be a role-model and show them their responsibility to the rest of the world and future generations.
I teach engineering mathematics courses for our engineering bachelor and associate degree programs.
These programs focus on collaboration and engagement with industry, and place a strong emphasis on understanding the essential mathematical theories used in workplaces.
I believe in creating a positive environment for all students where they can share, enjoy and learn.
I try to do more than just teach mathematics to my students; I also aspire to be a role-model and show them their responsibility to the rest of the world and future generations. I want them to know they have an important contribution to make.
I work to provide every student with a supportive learning environment, and adjust my teaching according to their needs and abilities using a variety of techniques and technologies.
I see teachers and students as a team and discuss with my students how we can improve the learning experience together.
One innovation I have introduced is the “flipped classroom” to teach classes where students have varied backgrounds in mathematics.
In traditional lectures students focus on the teacher, and are expected to learn the same way at the same rate.
In the flipped classroom students familiarise themselves with course material prior to the classroom sessions, during which they are at the centre of the learning experience as the teacher responds to their questions and needs.
This method of teaching caters for a broader range of learning styles and has proved effective in improving student results.
I encourage students to share their knowledge and experience to support each other.
Using social media I established a network of past and present students. Past students can be excellent mentors for those new to study and the discipline, and through this network some students now have jobs and scholarships.
I am very proud of what my students have been able to achieve. I have received several teaching awards based on student satisfaction, and feel rewarded that they recognise the value of my teaching approach.
