Jack Waugh succeeding in his double degree in electrical engineering and management winning a number of awards and scholarships as well as gaining significant industry experience.
Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) (Honours)/ Bachelor of Business (Management)
My ability to complete this project with competency is a direct result of many of the skills I learned in my studies.
Ever since I can remember I have had a fascination with electrical energy. My strength in both physics and maths at high school led to an interest in the field of electrical engineering, in particular in emerging technologies. Furthermore, in the long term I aspire to work in executive management, so for me, a comprehensive understanding of business is essential.
I decided to study at RMIT as the double degree in electrical engineering and business management was a perfect fit. RMIT has enabled me to do a five year program across two disciplines which I believe will help me toward the career I desire.
My program is preparing me for industry through activities such as the work placement I completed at AusNet Services. I undertook the task of creating a Project Integration System, an interactive visual interface that enables users to see all works proposed for any given location. I also designed and initiated a pilot that will determine the benefit of such a system to the business. I was solely responsible for the research, planning, design, development, testing and communication of this project. My ability to complete this project with competency is a direct result of many of the skills I learned in my studies.
I plan to work as an electrical engineer in the coming years before making the transition into management. I then hope to work my way into executive management.
