With a passion for the wider sustainability cause, George Coulloupas chose to study sustainable systems engineering at RMIT. He hopes to represent the environment and help those less fortunate.
Bachelor of Engineering (Sustainable Systems Engineering)(Honours)
This course gives engineering students the opportunity to develop a valuable skillset for real-world engineering, encompassing complex problem-solving, research-driven development, team work and leadership.
My passion for the global sustainability movement has aligned my aspirations towards the engineering field with a wider ambition to use practical expertise to holistically develop innovations which represent the environment and help those afflicted by disaster and poverty. .
I hope to use my professional career to contribute to the conceptualisation, analysis and realisation of renewable energy systems. I enjoy problem-solving that requires knowledge of a diverse range of topics. . Armed with the interdisciplinary fundamentals of established engineering streams, the exploration of sustainability design principles is a valuable approach for the conceptualization and realization of complex systems.
I aim to develop innovative solutions for current and future energy concerns with an embedded responsibility for the environment, intergenerational equity and the economy.
RMIT was an attractive choice as the undergraduate program in systems engineering encompasses sustainability design principles alongside studying mechanical and electrical engineering concepts. The undergraduate program has prepared me for post-graduate research in sustainable energy, which has validated my underlying passions.
Over the next few years I plan to gain industry experience domestically and internationally in the renewable energy generation section. I’d also like to undertake further postgraduate study at RMIT. I hope my degree will take me to a managerial position which oversees large-scale energy generation from renewable sources.
The work I have done at RMIT has validated my passions for the sustainability movement and I have a great network of like-minding, supportive peers.
