For Andrew Dixon, RMIT was the natural choice to study Chinese Medicine. Now equipped with knowledge and practical experience, he has opened a successful Chinese Medicine clinic in his hometown.
Bachelor of Health Science/Bachelor of Applied Science (Chinese Medicine)
The highlight was my semester placement in Nanjing during my final year of studies; how Chinese medicine has evolved and how it is integrated in their medical industry was fantastic. I would recommend RMIT to anyone considering Chinese Medicine.
I became interested in alternative medicine years before I started at RMIT. I felt a collaboration using the best aspects of Western and Eastern healthcare practices would benefit not only an individual but an entire population.
RMIT was an easy choice to make; it is dedicated to research in my chosen field and has strong relationships with traditional universities in China. Additionally, RMIT combines Western medical practices with traditional Chinese medicine to give students the best chance of success in the Australian healthcare industry.
Other than a fantastic faculty and staff, the major highlight for me was the clinical placement in Nanjing, China, for which I received an international study scholarship, during my final year. Seeing how Chinese medicine has evolved and how it is integrated in their medical industry was beneficial.
I currently run my own clinic in Gisborne, Victoria, my hometown. Having studied at RMIT has not only given me the confidence and motivation to start my own practice but also the skills and professionalism to do it better than others. I love what I do because I’m in a privileged position to make positive differences to people’s lives.
