Hailey Moody wanted to find a way to help her community as she made a living. A career in dentistry is helping her put smiles on everyone’s faces.
Certificate III in Dental Assisting
Learning about dental care was great way for me to help my community as I further my own career.
I am caring. I am bubbly. I am passionate.
I believe that a healthy mouth means a happy you, so learning about dental care was great way for me to help my community as I further my own career. By the end of 2014, I’ll be a fully qualified dental assistant and ready to get to work!
My program teaches you everything you need to know about dental nursing but one of the most interesting parts for me has been learning more about surgical treatments. It’s really delicate work but an important part of dentistry and I find it really interesting.
Because my program is offered as a traineeship, I’ve been able to work full time at a dental practice while I’m learning. This is one of the best parts of my program, because I get lots of hands-on experience all throughout my study.
It was my employer who chose RMIT for me to study but everyone here has been really nice and helpful. If you’re thinking about studying Dental Assisting, don’t be shy to meet new people because I’ve made a lot of friends here!
Next year, I’m hoping to study the Certificate IV in Dental Assisting and start working on a career as either a dental therapist or hygienist. One day I’d like to go overseas or work somewhere in Queensland or somewhere amazing like that. Who knows what the future holds?
I love what I do because I am making a difference within my Aboriginal community, one smile at a time!
