When choosing to study the Master of Translating and Interpreting, Julia was drawn to RMIT’s emphasis on training and preparation for the workforce and the location of the City campus.
The weekly translating and interpreting workshops gave me the confidence to walk into a wide range of work situations and trust that I would be able to handle interpreting the material, no matter what the topic.
"The link between NAATI and RMIT appealed to me, as I was keen to become an accredited translator/interpreter as soon as possible.
"The staff were always willing to share their experiences and insights gained from long careers in the translation and interpreting industry. It was invaluable to participate in a work placement at the Northern Hospital, following interpreters around and seeing what they do on a daily basis. I learnt about the social aspects of working in a hospital and not just the linguistic concerns."
