Further your career in the aviation industry by developing the skills and knowledge to take on management roles.
The aviation industry is global, competitive and driven by rapidly changing market forces and this program is focused on equipping you with the skills to achieve results.
The program combines core studies spanning the breadth of the aviation industry with the opportunity to specialise in a range of areas including:
- business and management
- transportation and logistics
- remotely piloted aircraft systems
- aerospace technology
During your specialisation, you’ll update your understanding of the industry and be exposed to issues faced by complementary sectors.
You’ll also gain the skills to analyse and implement creative solutions, and enhance your leadership and communication skills.
An aviation research project will allow you to consolidate and expand the knowledge gained throughout the program. You'll have the opportunity to work on an in-depth qualitative and/or quantitative study that has a technical and/or managerial application.
Local students can complete this program either on-campus or fully online, with all core courses and sufficient optional courses available in both modes of delivery.
International student visa holders can only study full-time.
- 1-1.5 years full-time or part-time equivalent (with exemptions)

Local students may be able to study this program fully online.
Some projects in the Aviation Research Project course may require travel to the Bundoora campus. Alternative projects based entirely at the Melbourne City campus are available.

A range of learning and teaching approaches are used to develop your capabilities and develop your skills as an independent and lifelong learner. Traditional face-to-face classes will be utilised, but self-paced learning tools will also be utilised, such as lecture capture videos and web based exercises.
You'll undertake structured activities that allow you to learn, apply and demonstrate your professional practice. These activities will be in real-work contexts or simulated work situations. Further learning activities will involve case studies of real world problems, and where possible extensive use of guest lectures are included from industry experts.

This program was developed in collaboration with key stakeholders in the aviation industry. Industry engagement and input is embedded throughout the program to ensure it remains relevant and graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills for a successful career.
Graduates will be suited for a range of operational management and planning roles in the aviation industry. These include management-level roles in areas such as:
- airline operations planning and management
- airline maintenance management and supervision
- airport landside operations
- airport airside operations
- airport planning and management
- aviation safety management.
