This is Australia’s most renowned interactive and digital media education program, producing highly employable graduates with a diverse range of media skills.
This program has a selection task.
The program maintains robust connections with industry through teaching staff, guest lecturers and assessment feedback. Students and staff associated with this program have exhibited in local and international festivals including Flickerfest – international short film festival, Sundance Film Festival, Annecy International Animation Film Festival and the Australian Centre of the Moving Image (ACMI).
Program content is industry-driven and kept up to date using industry standard software and production protocols. The course investigates the conceptual development and production of media content including broadcast motion design, 2D and 3D imaging and animation, web and interactive design for delivery across a wide range of platforms such as film and television, advertising, the web and mobile content platforms.
You will graduate as a multi-skilled digital professional, with limitless career possibilities spanning from user experience design to art direction, animation and many more.
International student visa holders can only study full-time.
RMIT offers a variety of learning and teaching approaches including lectures, seminars, studios, workshops, presentations and group discussion work.
Learning is conducted in the following types of environments:
- computer labs - practical classes held in labs that contain industry standard Apple Mac computers and software including: Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Maya, Premiere Pro, After Effects and Audition.
- auditoriums - industry speakers and graduates are invited to share their experiences and provide students with valuable insider information.
- studio - group projects are undertaken in computer labs, reflecting a professional studio production experience.
In addition to these resources, students have access to industry standard production equipment including HD video, professional audio and imaging gear.
You will be assessed by folio submission as well as skills demonstration. Some assessments will be group based but many projects will be individually conducted and assessed.
All classes are conducted in English. You will have access to online resources through the myRMIT student portal.
The program maintains close contacts with industry through regular guest speakers, the involvement of industry in the development of assignment briefs and enduring links with graduates who have moved into various roles within the industry.
Students are also encouraged to explore opportunities for part-time, casual or volunteer work in the screen and media industries to develop knowledge, apply skills and acquire workplace experience.
Graduates from this program are currently working in the following companies: Y&R brands - advertising (including Wunderman and George Patterson), Iloura - high-end special effects and animation, MindAtlas - elearning company, MTV, Two Bulls - Immersive mobile technology, Viskatoons - animation design and post production, and the Design Foundation - Creative Studio.
