Are you ready for more responsibility in the office? Business administration at RMIT will take your administrative and organisational skills to the next level.
Learn how to manage complex administrative practices and develop skills to operate an effective work environment. As part of your studies, you will understand how planning and team leadership contributes to workplace and organisational success and operate RMIT’s virtual enterprise in conjunction with a mentor from a real-life company.
The Diploma of Business Administration is focused on broadening your range of administration skills to meet the expectations of employers.
Most of your learning and teaching activities will be held in the Swanston Academic Building. RMIT's Swanston Academic Building features wireless connection to printers, the web and specialist learning resources, interactive lecture and tutorial spaces, lectorial theatres, small-group rooms and other innovative learning spaces as well as retail and social spaces.
RMIT offers a variety of learning and teaching approaches including lectures, seminars, workshops, presentations, group discussions and group work. Through RMIT University’s online learning portal, myRMIT, you will be able to view online resources and learning activities created by lecturers, access course materials via Blackboard, collaborate with lecturers and fellow students, and access your student email account. Educational software, the Learning Hub, resources and printers are accessible on campus via the RMIT wireless network using your own laptop, tablet or smart phone or via computer facilities on-campus. You will be able to access the same software from home using myDesktop.
Ongoing assessment throughout the semester includes reports, presentations, group projects, research projects and practical assignments. To maximise success in this program, all applicants are expected to have above-average IT knowledge and skills.
RMIT University is committed to providing you with an education that strongly links formal learning with workplace experience. As a student enrolled in this RMIT University program you will be assessed on structured activities that allow you to learn, apply and demonstrate vocational competency.
You will use a simulated business space to operate RMIT's virtual enterprise in conjunction with a mentor from a real-life company. You can also undertake a work-integrated learning project, or gain experience in a work environment by undertaking a practical work placement. Placements usually commence in February or July and are approximately 10 to 15 days in duration.
If you are working, particularly in a job which is related to your studies you will also be learning while at work and may have the opportunity to be assessed in your workplace for some or all of your courses. Feedback from work supervisors and others in the workplace can be used as evidence of competency, and an RMIT University assessor can visit your workplace to observe your work practice.
