Master of Statistics and Operations Research
My dream is to become a scientist or statistician. The statistical skills needed are the reason I chose to study Statistics and Operational Research at RMIT. The course has enhanced my career and given me a wealth of skills and abilities.
My passion for numbers and statistics drew me to the Master of Statistics and Operations Research. RMIT is an excellent university for statistical studies and a degree from RMIT is well regarded.
Learning about artificial intelligence has been a highlight for me. The course has given me the tools and conceptual foundations in quantitative reasoning to extract and intelligently analyse information. I’ve gained confidence in problem solving.
The coursework and projects encourage teamwork, leadership, analytical and communication skills, which have helped me to succeed in the workplace.
With support from RMIT I have secured two internships. Both have involved work as a data analyst in organisations that deal in business intelligence and research. Currently I’m working as a researcher and statistical scientist with a government department, helping to develop a population model for wildlife.
I regularly participate in RMIT’s extra-curricular activities. Dance is a passion and, as a trained hip-hop and classical dancer, I have performed with RMIT’s Dance Club. Volunteering at RMIT events has given me the chance to make friends with students from different backgrounds and cultures.
