Capitol Innovation Fund Commission

The Capitol Innovation Fund Commission is an annual development program that allows RMIT researchers (and collaborators) to develop a site-specific performance or audio-visual work specifically for the theatre, which is then supported through a development period by RMIT Culture and presented to a public audience.

The Capitol Innovation Fund offers an annual opportunity for the development of a creative initiative sited at The Capitol, aimed at elevating RMIT's reputation and supporting innovative art, design, research and learning.

The Commission is made possible through the Capitol Innovation Fund, which enables an applied, practice-based approach through creative initiatives at The Capitol. The Capitol is a beautiful space, which provides the opportunity to support RMIT’s position as a leading university for culturally-driven enterprise, design and innovation by showcasing and expanding new initiatives. The Capitol Innovation Fund, managed by RMIT Culture, shapes the world for the better by supporting innovative art, design, research and learning.

The works are selected via an EOI process. Proposals are invited from researchers and research collaborators at RMIT for a site-specific public screening, performance, or talk at The Capitol to be presented to a public audience. Proposals should identify the issues or knowledge that the project would translate, draw on RMIT research, or that of formally identified research collaborators, and proposals may be aligned with any discipline or be interdisciplinary.
