Professor of economics, RMIT University
Dr. Robert Hoffmann is a professor of economics. He uses a range of research methods from economics and other social sciences to examine individual decision making in social and strategic situations. He developed a keen awareness of the effects of culture on behaviour over many years researching and teaching internationally including in Australia, the UK, China, Malaysia and Singapore. Recently Rob has been particularly interested in the effect of values and religion on decision making, especially in an Asian context. While most of his current work involves experiments, Rob’s projects range from attitude surveys and secondary data analysis to computer simulation and theoretical modelling. His work has over the years been supported by a series of scholarships and grants and he has served the research community through organising conferences and workshops, refereeing and editing for journals and funding bodies and contributions to the media.
