As a Marketing Executive prior to entering academia, Emily specialised in market research and quality and customer relationship management.
Since receiving her PhD in 2011, Emily has developed expertise in understanding intense consumption phenomena and uncovering sensitive topics and emotional issues including fanaticism, obsession, and (gambling) addiction (and recovery). She often presents at local and international conferences, is widely published, is called on to talk to various media and supervises award-winning PhD students. And she still finds time to provide marketing consulting to commercial and not-for-profit clients.
When Emily is not out interviewing or studying consumers, she is the official taste-tester to her chef husband and enjoys baking with her six-year-old daughter.
