Our sports facilities cater for active and social lifestyles, they include gymnasiums, indoor and outdoor playing fields and the all-new basketball courts at the A’Beckett Urban Square.
A'Beckett Urban Square
The new A'Beckett Urban Square is a shared sports facility for use by RMIT students, staff and the wider community. The space has two half courts, one full court set up for basketball and one full court set up for netball. It also features barbeque facilities, table tennis and plenty of outdoor seating.
Location: Melbourne City campus, corner A’Beckett and Stewart Streets.
Please note: As part of the Metro Tunnel construction, Melbourne Metro Rail Authority (MMRA), the Victorian Government body responsible for delivery of the Metro Tunnel, has taken temporary occupancy over the two half courts for a period of up to six years and will no longer be available for booking.
RMIT Sports Centre
The RMIT Sports Centre offers a huge range of sports facilities on campus including:
- Athletics track
- Fully equipped gym
- Indoor basketball, futsal, badminton, netball and volleyball courts
- Outdoor soccer pitch, hockey pitch, squash courts and tennis courts.
Location: RMIT Bundoora campus, Building 203, McKimmies Road, Bundoora.
The Alumni courtyard is a large, open outdoor area framed by the bluestone walls of the historic Old Melbourne Gaol. The flat lawn area ensures easy set up for a range of activities from exhibition activities to lectures or as picnic area.
Location: RMIT Melbourne City campus, 357 Russell Street (between Building 19 and the Old Melbourne Gaol), Melbourne.
As well as the new courts available at our A'Beckett Urban Square, we have 3 single hoop outdoor basketball courts on the Melbourne City campus. Open to all students on a first-come-first-served basis.
Court 1: In between Building 15 and the University Lawn, below the Alumni Courtyard.
Court 2: Gillespie Plaza, off Bowen Street outside Building 14.
