Get involved in the Engineering Learning Factory at the Advanced Manufacturing Precinct.
The Advanced Manufacturing Precinct (AMP) is set to bring industry, RMIT expertise and students together in a collaborative ’learning factory’ environment. Innovative designs are developed and realised across many disciplines of engineering, product and industrial design by integrating digital design with advanced digital manufacturing processes.
The Engineering Learning Factory at the AMP provides students with unique learning experiences on real industry problems and products in a work-emulating environment. It helps them understand industry needs, professional requirements and the product realisation process. Projects are team-based and involve higher education and vocational education students from different disciplines.
Industry practitioners work together with our academic staff to scope and supervise projects. The industry practitioner role is to support practical education and training that is aligned to modern professional and industry needs and that connects students and staff to industry and professional experience. They are experienced professional engineers across mechanical, manufacturing, electronics and other relevant engineering disciplines.
We are seeking partnerships with companies interested in sponsoring projects for students to work on as part of their study programs, and especially through capstone projects for our senior students.
By sponsoring a project, you will benefit from access to the latest research and technology and obtain direct assistance on your product design and manufacturing problems. You also have the opportunity to shape the education of your future potential workforce by helping to develop well-prepared graduates who understand both the technical requirements and the business needs.
The Engineering Learning Factory at the AMP also provides students with an opportunity to undertake a summer internship and/or an industry experience placement within the AMP.
