Logistics and Supply Chain Management

Logistics and Supply Chain Management are two of the most important factors shaping international trade and economies.

Businesses, governments, and individuals rely on the value and jobs created by production networks that span cities, regions, countries and the globe. We undertake cutting edge research in logistics, supply chain management, and transport and freight services.

We focus on applied multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research that uses information, modelling, and analytics to shape the future of internationally integrated logistics and sustainable supply chain networks domestically and globally. This research develops innovative tools, programs, and policies for industry.

Logistics

Researchers and research students undertake multi-disciplinary research focusing on logistics operations, procurement, and risk management and sustainability. The focus is on both grounded theory, and empirical studies and model building, a narrative drawn largely from industrial applications and needs.

The outcome is to support the industry of shippers and service providers, both nationally and regionally. We have greater synergies with international collaborators in other universities established in the same domain in terms of research, faculty and student exchange programmes.

Supply Chain Management

The Supply Chain Management research takes a distinctively holistic approach to investigate the challenges presented by the phenomenal growth of production and services networks in their interconnected social, environmental, political, and economic dimensions.

In particular we pursue crucial research in sustainable supply chain and climate change and global operations and supply chain management, retail logistics and technologies in supply chain and utilise mathematical optimisation and simulation modelling to solve practical problems.

Transportation and Freight Services

The Transportation and Freight Services area brings together researchers and research students that undertake cutting edge research in the transportation and freight services sector. We focus on applied multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research that uses information, modelling, simulation and analytics to advance theory and practice in the field.

We provide theory and evidence based recommendations, decision tools, programs and policies to industry, government and non-profit organisations. By improving the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the transportation system, we endeavour to improve the economic, health and social well-being of the public and non-profit sector, businesses and the community.
