Industry Advisory Board

RMIT is strengthening its industry ties with the College of Business and Law Industry Advisory Board.

The IAB’s purpose is to assist the College to achieve its mission to develop the person, the leader and the enterprise with the knowledge and skills they require to create positive, sustainable, and fair futures. We aspire to create meaningful, connected and value-driven industry advisory at all levels of the College. With ongoing input from our industry partners and a network of distinguished individuals, the College aligns and connects its programs with industry.

The board meets three times a year and there are also opportunities for interaction with other board members and RMIT staff throughout the year.

The board consists of renowned leaders from a range of industries and not-for-profit organisations who will work together to further business and law education and research at RMIT.

Board Members

Innes Willox is Chief Executive of the Australian Industry Group, a leading industry organisation representing businesses in a broad range of sectors including manufacturing, construction, transport, defence, ICT and labour hire. Innes was appointed Chief Executive in May 2012.

His current appointments include:

  • Deputy Chair of Australian Super
  • Director of the Innovative Manufacturing Co-operative Research Centre
  • Board Member of the Australian American Leadership Dialogue
  • Chair of the Migration Council of Australia
  • Chair of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Skilled Migration

  • Convenor of the Industry 4.0 Advanced Manufacturing Forum

Innes served as the Australian Consul General to Los Angeles from 2006 to 2008, where he represented wide-ranging Australian interests on the west coast of the United States, including in the areas of trade, finance, culture, bio- technology, environment and energy sectors.

He was Chief of Staff to the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Alexander Downer, from 2004 to 2006.

Earlier, Innes held a number of private sector and government positions including Manager of Global Public Affairs for Singapore Airlines based in Singapore (2000-04).

Innes began his working career as a journalist. His positions included Chief of Staff at The Age newspaper in Melbourne and Chief Political Correspondent for The Age in the Canberra Parliamentary Press Gallery.

Innes was educated at Melbourne High School; Monash University (BA History and Politics); and Edinburgh Business School. He is based in Melbourne and is a lifetime supporter of the Collingwood Football Club.

Laura Anderson is an International Company Director, Entrepreneur and Global Philanthropist.

Laura has worked extensively across governments and industries locally and globally as a senior adviser on global governance, strategy transformation and risk optimisation. Her professional speciality is harnessing the power of big data and its effect on global supply chains, trade, investment and infrastructure development.

Laura is Chairman of OneGlobalVenture Pty Ltd, SVI Global Pty Ltd, G21 Pty Ltd, and the Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Technology. Laura is also a Director of several private investment companies.

In addition to her role as a Governor and Board Member of the American Chamber of Commerce, Laura serves on the Board of the Defence Science Institute, Defence Council Victoria, the NBL and several educational institutions.

Laura’s Board contributions have included the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, Epworth HealthCare, Chairman of LaunchVic, the Melbourne Fashion Festival, Starlight Children’s Foundation, and The Good Foundation – Jamie Oliver’s Ministry of Food.

Laura is Chair of the United Nations UNCTAD Board of Advisors for the Creative Economy Programme, Chair of Judges for the World Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in Oceania and the global Space Technology Entrepreneur S-Booster Awards.

Laura is a global thought leader on the development of the creative economy and its impact on the future of industry structures, social cohesion and economic innovation.

She is a champion for the global transformation across The Fourth Industrial Revolution and empowering the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Annalie leads the Deloitte Legal Sydney practice and is an experienced tax lawyer and litigator.

Annalie started her career at the Australian Government Solicitor before moving to top tier law firm Herbert Smith Freehills, then into the tax disputes practices at PwC and now Deloitte. Annalie advises multinational corporations on tax and regulatory risk and compliance and has a passion for applying new technology to solve big data legal problems.

Annalie loves sport, gardening and travel, and is married with two young sons.

Gerald is Bupa APAC Chief Customer and Strategy Officer with accountability for the area Corporate Strategy and Customer agenda and the leveraging of digital and data as transformative enablers of Bupa’s Growth ambition. Gerald is also spearheading Bupa’s future customer growth agenda in the area of Health and Happiness-as-a-Service and digital health.

With more than 24 years of working experience across Oceania, Asia-PAC, USA, Europe and the Indian Ocean, Gerald has, so far, a globally rich career. Prior to joining Bupa, Gerald spent 15 years as a management consultant in the area of Growth, Innovation and Digital Customer transformation, 5 years as a private equity investor for a global institutional PE firm and 2 years designing and launching an internet banking growth venture.

Gerald is passionate about innovation and preserving the health of our planet for future generations and its biodiversity.

Cheuk is currently CEO, Greater North for Dentsu APAC. He is an industry thought-leader who has built his career leading creative, media, data and technology businesses.

He joined dentsu from Mutiny Group the world’s first predictive management consultancy and technology company leveraging the latest in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Prior to Mutiny, Cheuk was CEO, Asia Pacific for Omnicom Media Group where he led over 4,000 staff in 47 offices across 21 markets.

Prior to joining Omnicom Media Group, Cheuk was at Cummins & Partners in Australia where he had a long and successful spell as MD of the globally acclaimed and highly awarded creative hot-shop. Cummins was later acquired by Sapient Nitro.

Over the past 28 years Cheuk has worked on a number of high-profile brands including ANZ, Coca-Cola, General Motors, Heineken, Heinz, Hennessy, HP, Honda, HTC, Kraft, Mars, Myer, Motorola, Nestle, Nikon, Procter & Gamble, Tiger Beer and Unilever.

In 2002, he was recognised as one of the top executives in the region and conferred Media Magazine’s Suit of the Year award.

In 2010, Cheuk was named Agency Innovator of The Year by the Internationalist Magazine.

Throughout his tenure at Omnicom Media Group, its brands OMD and PHD won over 130 local and regional agency of the year awards across the Asia Pacific region. Cheuk served as a judge at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in 2011 and 2013 and is a strong advocate for innovation and creativity.

In 2015, Cheuk was named Asia Pacific Agency Head of the Year (Media) by Campaign Asia.

In 2016 he continued to lead the charge for creativity and effectiveness taking on additional roles as Chairman of the APAC Effie Awards and President of the Spikes Asia Media jury.

In 2017, Cheuk was made Chairman of the APAC Effie Committee. In 2018, he was made President of the Dubai Lynx Media jury.

Warrick is the Managing Partner of Deals, Tax and Legal, and Chairman and CEO of KPMG in Vietnam and Cambodia. He has been a Tax advisor in Vietnam for over 20 years, and is recognised as one of Vietnam’s leading tax professionals. He began his tax advisory career upon graduation in 1992 and moved to Vietnam 1998. He has extensive knowledge and experience in Vietnam of taxation advisory and compliance, tax dispute resolution, corporate governance and structuring issues, and has advised on numerous corporate transactions in Vietnam and Cambodia.

His clients include major international corporations operating in Vietnam from Europe, Asia and the United States, in the financial services, manufacturing, natural resources, technology and consumer goods industries.

Warrick is well known and respected by the corporate community in Vietnam, and has extensive experience working with the authorities at all levels of the Government. He is a frequent commentator in the Vietnamese media on tax and business issues.

He served as KPMG Asia Pacific Head of Tax from 2010 to 2016, and as the Global Leader of High Growth Markets for Tax thereafter. He has been a member of KPMG’s International Tax Steering Group since 2010 and is also a member of KPMG’s Asia Pacific Board and Global Council.

KPMG has been recognised for its contribution to the financial sector by Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance, and has been named the Vietnam Tax Firm of the Year, most recently for 2020, by the widely respected and independent International Tax Review.

Outside of KPMG, Mr Cleine is Chairman of the New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, Chairman of British Corporate Advocacy Council in Vietnam, and Adjunct Industry Professor in the School of Business & Management, RMIT Vietnam University.

As the Digital lead of KEO - InSite, Chris is responsible for transforming the way we design and advise, to help clients become future-ready. Working with professionals across the business to enhance the way they design and implement integrated solutions across core digital competencies, including visualisation, data analytics, digital modelling, computational design, information management and solution development.

Chris applies his years of experience with relevant industry and technical know-how, to help clients fundamentally rethink their planning, strategy, and business processes, create connected digital platforms and improve their analytics and collaboration. He leads the business in the way we work, how we share knowledge, collaborate and communicate to improve whole life performance on every project delivered to clients.

As CEO Linfox Logistics Australia & New Zealand, Mark is responsible for leading the largest privately-owned logistics company in Australia to achieve its vision to be the most trusted logistics provider in Australia and New Zealand.

Mark is leading the way with a focused and integrated business strategy that strives for industry-leading safety and compliance, outstanding customer service and smarter, sustainable supply chain solutions – all underpinned by Linfox’s values of loyalty, integrity, fairness and trust.

Mark has held senior roles at Linfox since 2006, including Chief Operating Officer and various business unit President appointments.

Prior to joining Linfox, Mark held senior executive board and management roles with major companies in the FMCG and retail sectors including a global role based in Europe.

In these roles Mark delivered significant outcomes in a number of areas including safety, commercial, operations, sales, marketing and corporate affairs. Mark has studied at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and Harvard Business School.

He is currently a board member of the Australian Logistics Council and Healthy Heads in Trucks and Sheds.

Sonya is a high energy executive leader at BP, having developed her 20 -year career across Asia Pacific and Europe in many large commercial, retail, supply chain operations and executive support roles.

In her current position Sonya is leading the transformation of the former Downstream business to a new business group - Customers & Products. This is a fundamental organisational change that will focus on customers as the driving force for the energy products and services of the future, and on customer experience and expansion in rapidly changing markets.

Sonya’s career is distinguished by her strong strategic, commercial and leadership capability. She has experience leading large operational supply chain businesses managing significant safety & operational risks, as well as customer facing sales and marketing businesses. Sonya also has broad experience working with Joint Ventures and Partnerships and has held several non-executive director roles both in the UK and Australia.

Sonya is engaging, enthusiastic and curious and her sense of possibility is contagious. Mentoring early and mid-career women is a passion that Sonya invests heavily in.

Matt Greensmith is the Head of Domain Solution Architecture for ANZO at Amazon Web Services, and also leads the Early Careers team.

His teams focus is to incorporate the latest technologies into the business practices of public sector organisations in Australia, New Zealand and Oceania. He has a long career in consultancy and leadership in the Information Technology industry.

Michael Fraccaro currently serves as the Chief People Officer at Mastercard, a position he has held since 2016. As Chief People Officer, Fraccaro has guided the company through significant growth of its business through organic expansion and acquisitions, driving culture and most recently a very successful CEO transition. Fraccaro has global experience having worked and lived extensively in Asia, Middle East, and North America (currently New York). He has a proven track record of outstanding leadership and achieving results.

As Chief People Officer, Fraccaro is responsible for Mastercard’s human capital worldwide, including employee relations, inclusion and diversity, talent, leadership development, individual and organizational capability building and executive compensation. He provides strategic direction and advice to the Management Committee, Human Resources and Compensation Committee and its Board of Directors.

Prior to his role as Chief People Officer, Fraccaro served as Executive Vice President, Global Products and Solutions at Mastercard from 2012-2016. In that capacity, Fraccaro supported the digital transformation of the business and ensuring the profile of talent, culture and employer brand was reflective of a technology powerhouse and a top 20 NYSE listed company.

Mr. Fraccaro is an internationally recognized leader in the field of human resources frequently appearing at conferences and contributing to books and published articles. He serves as a board member of the Human Resource Policy Association as well as the Executive Council of the Society for Human Resource Management. He also serves as a board member for the not-for-profit New York City Young People’s Chorus.

Before arriving at Mastercard, Fraccaro held various human resource leadership positions within the financial services industry. He has a Master of Applied Science (Communication Management) from the University of Technology, Sydney, a Bachelor of Education from the Australian Catholic University, and a variety of other professional qualifications. He and his wife, Mei, have five children and live in Greenwich, Connecticut.

With nearly 25 years’ experience in executive and leadership roles in the humanitarian sector, both in Australia and internationally, Penny is known for being curious, constantly looking at futures trends and working out what this means for today such as the future of volunteering and how people take action for good, how to harness the transformational power of frontier technologies to solve complex humanitarian issues, and the value of social innovation.

Drawing from her breadth of experience in Australia and internationally, along with good doses of passion and optimism, Penny strives to build collaborations across sectors including academic, business and not for profit with individuals and communities knowing that this is what it takes to effect system and social change. Penny is currently Chief of Staff at Australian Red Cross.

Stella Avramopoulos has been a CEO in the not for profit sector for over 14 years and is currently the CEO of Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand since 2018. As the leader of this proud community services organisation, she is committed to disrupting cycles of disadvantage that hinder the wellbeing of women, girls and families. Stella’s stewardship has imbued Good Shepherd with a reinvigorated focus that merges its globally renowned 400 year old legacy with a contemporary professional approach; blends the principles of governance and accountability with excellent program performance; and creates an ecosystem of robust and meaningful partnerships with government, collaborating agencies, business and the broader community sector that brings the power of connection and shared innovation to the individuals and communities she serves.

Stella is also an influential and inspirational leader in the community, education and government sectors across Australia.

She has worked across different levels of government and has held advisory positions on the Office of Living Victoria’s Environment and Community Taskforce, the Ministerial Advisory Group Addressing Violence Against Women and Children, the Victorian Government’s Community Sector Reform Council and Australian Banking Association Customer Forum. Stella was a member of the Victorian Council of Social Service (VCOSS) for nine years, and President for six. She currently sits on the National Centre for Social Impact Studies Advisory Board and has recently been appointed to the RMIT College of Business and Law Industry Advisory Board.

Frank is currently an Honorary Professor at RMIT and is an enterprise leader with a strong commercial focus, building individual and organisational capabilities through strategy, diversity, empowerment and enablement - with a track record of achievement and success in the Higher Education and Financial Services Sectors.

Frank joined RMIT University in August 2019 as ADVC Strategy & Innovation. In this role Frank was responsible for strategy development in the College of Business and Law, enhancing the reputation of the College in Australia and internationally, and aligning activities with the University’s strategic plan.

Frank then led the launch of RMIT Digital 3 (D3) as Director in 2022, a collaboration of research centres specialising in Digital Economies. D3 is a new approach to business education linking industry and research to address the current and anticipated way of operating in the rapidly growing digital economy.

Prior to joining RMIT, Frank was Professor of Practice (Organisational Development) and Director of Engagement at UQ Business School. In this role Frank created the new Graduate Management Discipline within the School – combining the significant capabilities of Executive Education and UQ Business School MBA Programs whilst leveraging the unique research and teaching themes of UQ Business School. The Discipline delivers UQ Business School distinctive offerings, engagement and solutions to current and emerging leaders, enterprises, MBA alumni and the community.

Over the years, Frank has led and transformed Business School Executive Education and MBA programs, as well as held executive positions in Human Resources, Global Learning, Talent Management and Organisational Development.

Frank applies his leadership experience in workplace change, higher education and financial services with the thought-leadership and rigour of the Business School to formulate strategy, launch initiatives and lead change.

Previously AGSM@UNSW Business School’s Executive Director, Executive Education and MBA Recruitment & Admissions, Frank led year-on-year growth in all KPI’s (revenue, FT Open Rankings, participant/student numbers, satisfaction, faculty engagement, portfolio diversity, and program/technology innovation).

Prior to joining AGSM (April 2012), Frank held Country, Group and Regional roles within HSBC Bank, spending 4 years in Hong Kong as Regional Head of Learning Asia Pacific leading a team of 400+ learning & development professional across 19 countries and serving over 70,000 employees.

Bevan Mailman is the Managing Director of Jaramer Legal, Australia’s first national Indigenous law firm (2022 Telstra Best of Business Awards – Victoria Indigenous Excellence Award) as a joint-venture with Norton Rose Fulbright, and the Co-Chairman of Desert Springs Octopus, companies which are assisting in the origination, development and investment in, new enterprise, infrastructure and community development projects, including in the area of renewable energy and agriculture, amongst remote Indigenous communities. Bevan is also a Board member of the Indigenous Global Network for Investment Trade and Export and Aboriginal Housing Victoria (managing over ½ billion in social housing real-estate) and he is the Global Indigenous Representative for the North American Australian Lawyers Alliance. Bevan is also an Advisor to Impact Investment Partners, a private equity firm that has established Australia’s first Indigenous infrastructure ownership fund.

Bevan has a background in commercial transactions, corporate advisory and corporate structuring and works extensively with remote/regional Indigenous communities and organisations in Australia and other jurisdictions both in terms of evaluating the challenges facing communities, and in developing local, national and international strategies to move these communities to a place of improved governance, independence, and economic sustainability and growth.

Bevan was formerly a University Lecturer on Public Policy and Law and has studied at the University of Melbourne Business School (MBA), Kellogg School of Management (United States) and Otto Beisheim School of Management (Germany). Bevan is an Alumnus of Norton Rose Fulbright, a former member of National Australia Bank’s Corporate and Finance team, and is a former member of Allens Arthur Robinson (now Allens Linklaters) Mergers and Acquisitions team.  He is the 2021 Indigenous Leader of the Year (Australian Law Awards).
