The approach it aims to model builds pre-service teachers’ capacity to teach interculturally through personal encounters with students from other cultures, facilitated by innovative use of information and communication technologies (ICT).
Pre-service teachers participating in a core 150 Bachelor of Education course in Semester 2, 2013, created a safe, supportive and inclusive online environment where over 300 local and international school students were engaged in challenging but achievable online curriculum projects. In the process, pre-service teachers and school students developed understandings about each other’s and their own cultures. All participants engaged in creating and sharing multimedia artefacts to represent their learning in their collaborative projects.
