Who We Work With

The Social & Global Studies Centre partners with leading industry organisations to deliver exceptional research and drive transformation in policy and practice.

International Policing and Civilian Protection in UN Peace Operations

Led by Dr Charles T. Hunt, this ARC Discovery Early Career Research Award project aims to evaluate the contribution of police to the implementation of protection of civilians mandates in United Nations peace operations.

The broad goal of the project is to identify ways of improving the protection of civilians into the future as police peacekeepers are deployed in large numbers to protect hundreds of thousands of civilians in increasingly complex conflict situations.

Findings from these research collaborations are playing a crucial role in shaping Australia's laws and policies to end violence against women and their children.

Australian Red Cross

The Social & Global Studies Centre collaborates with the Australian Red Cross to explore future challenges facing the humanitarian sector in a complex and unpredictable global world.

This collaboration is an important step towards building research and engagement capacity in the humanitarian sector to address matters such as reflexive and culturally sensitive approaches to interventions, and the nature of human vulnerabilities in humanitarian crises.
