Mathematical and geospatial sciences

We have a number of research clusters in Mathematical and geospatial sciences.

Applied statistics research

Members of the Applied statistics research area develop, apply and evaluate statistical solutions in a broad number of areas including sport, medicine, IT, water, food and manufacturing industries.

Optimisation research

Optimisation has been one of the most active domains of modern mathematical research for over a century.

Physical systems modelling

We apply a range of analytical and computational techniques to the analysis of problems arising in the modelling of real world systems occurring in the physical and engineering sciences.

Remote sensing and photogrammetry

Our research focus is on applying remote sensing technologies to environment studies. In particular we focus on providing useful tools to implement environmental policies and decision-making.

Risk and community safety

The Risk and Community Safety research program (CRaCS) was established in 2001.

Surveying, GIS and geovisualisation

Surveying and geographic information science focuses on the application of spatial information technologies to real-world applications.
