Dr. Ahmad Alaassar is a Postdoctoral Fellow at RMIT EU, Barcelona. His research interests lie at the intersection between the innovation and entrepreneurship literatures.

Overview

Dr. Alaassar has a double degree PhD in Management from RMIT University and the University of Agder.

Currently, he is a Postdoc Fellow at RMIT Europe and is based in Barcelona, Spain. His research activities are associated with the OpenInnoTrain and EINST4INE projects, both funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant. His research interests include topics like incubation models, entrepreneurial ecosystems, coopetition, university-industry collaboration and research translation.

Ahmad's publications have been featured in top-tier journals like Technovation, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Small Business Economics and the International Journal of Innovation Management.

Key Activities

Research and dissemination in top-tier academic journals, supervision of HDR candidates, teaching and course coordinating undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and contribution to the successful delivery of EU-funded projects.

Qualifications

Academic background comprises of a double degree Ph.D. in Management from RMIT and the University of Agder, a M.Sc. in Industrial Economics and Technology Management and a B.Sc. in Mechatronics engineering, both granted from the University of Agder.

Industry Experience

Relevant work experience includes being a business developer for a regional business incubator. Dr. Alaassar is also active in the start-up scene, advising and co-founding innovative ventures. In this setting, he employs lean methodologies and approaches including the Lean Start-up, Running Lean, Disciplined Entrepreneurship, Business Model Canvas, etc.
