STAFF PROFILE
Ms Stephanie Holt
An award-winning editor and educator, Stephanie Holt is the Program Coordinator for the Associate Degree in Professional Writing and Editing, and teaches in a range of editing and publishing courses.
With over twenty-five years' industry experience as an editor and writer, Stephanie has been part of the RMIT Professional Writing and Editing team since 2002. She had previously taught Australian Studies at the University of Melbourne, and Editing at Deakin University.
As a teacher, she has a particular interest in innovative teaching and course design, particularly involving project based, collaborative and cross-disciplinary learning.
She has been the key teacher in two major RMIT projects to advance teaching and learning. With support from the Learning and Teaching Innovation Fund she developed the program's first online courses, and as part of a Global Learning by Design project she is currently working to enhance global employability for students and develop an online program-wide publication platform.
Stephanie won the inaugural RMIT School of Creative Media Outstanding TAFE Teacher Award (2007), was commended in the RMIT University Teaching Awards (2008) and received a School of Media and Communications Manager of VET Practice Award in 2013 for innovation in e-learning and commitment to student-centred learning.

Prior to joining RMIT, Stephanie was the editor of Meanjin, one of Australia's leading literary magazines (1998–2001) and worked with Fine Arts Press, Sybylla Feminist Press and the ABC, among others.
She maintains a selective freelance practice, and is currently editor of the Melbourne PEN Quarterly. In 2007 she received the Barbara Ramsden Award, Australia's only literary award to recognise both editor and writer, for work on Garrie Hutchinson's Pilgrimage.
Stephanie writes on her personal passions, including art, popular culture, history and football and has been published in anthologies including The Best Ever Australian Sports Writing, as well as in various newspapers, magazines and journals.
She is an Accredited Editor and a member of Editors Victoria.
