Video: Introduction to the Researcher Portal

Getting started in the Portal

The Researcher Portal is available for all researchers and HDR candidates at RMIT. If you do not already have access, there are two ways to gain access:

  • Ask researcher.portal@rmit.edu.au to provide you access
  • Ask your supervisor to request it on your behalf by completing a Salesforce New User form via ServiceNow. They will need to select ‘Researcher Portal User’ as the access level and ‘Researcher Portal’ as the Salesforce Profile.

Accessing the portal

The Researcher Portal is available for all researchers, HDR candidates and support staff at RMIT.

There are two ways to gain access:

  • Ask researcher.portal@rmit.edu.au to provide you access
  • Ask your supervisor to request it on your behalf by completing a Salesforce New User form via ServiceNow. They will need to select ‘Researcher Portal User’ as the access level and ‘Researcher Portal’ as the Salesforce Profile.

If you receive a ‘Single sign-on’ error when attempting to log on to the Portal, it means that you do not yet have access and will need to request it via one of the ways above .

Once you have requested access, please allow up to 2 business days for access to be granted.

HDR Support in the Help Centre allows researchers to connect with skilled research support teams that can answer questions about research at RMIT.

You can also email researcher.portal@rmit.edu.au and they can direct you to the correct team.

Currently, Chrome and Safari are the only browsers that support full functionality.

No, external partners and organisations do not currently have access to the Portal.

If you would like to provide the Portal team with feedback about your experience, or you have an idea for a feature or information should be added, visit the Help Centre at the top right of any Portal page and select the Feedback function. Alternatively, please email the Portal team via researcher.portal@rmit.edu.au.

The Portal does not currently collate data from student and staff IDs (S-numbers and E-numbers) into one view. Any items, including publications, that were conducted and reported in your capacity as an RMIT staff member will only appear once you log in with your staff account. The items under your student ID will only be visible when logging in with your student account. The CI of a project can provide more visibility to items by making you a ‘Delegate CI’ in their own Portal view.

If you believe some of your project data being displayed in the Portal is incorrect, please log a service & support incident through the Help Centre in the Portal or contact researcher.portal@rmit.edu.au
