Shanti Sumartojo is Associate Professor of Design Research at Monash Art, Design and Architecture and a member of the Emerging Technologies Research Lab at Monash University.


Shanti Sumartojo is Associate Professor of Design Research at Monash Art, Design and Architecture, a member of the Emerging Technologies Research Lab at Monash University, and an Adjunct in the School of Media and Communication at RMIT.

Shanti’s research explores how people experience and understand their surroundings, and includes a focus on the design implications in interdisciplinary and applied collaborations.

Recent books include Atmospheres and the Experiential World: Theory and Methods (with Sarah Pink) and Commemorating Race and Empire in the Great War Centenary (with Ben Wellings).
