Professor Alexei D. Voskressenski holds a PhD in Politics and IPE, and in World/Asian History. He joined the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) in 1999 as Head of the Department of Asian and African Studies after many years of work for the Russian Academy of Sciences. He was also Dean of the School of Political Affairs and World Politics (2008-2017) at MGIMO, and has been Professor of Asian Studies, International Relations and Comparative Politics at the School of International Relations (MGIMO) since 1999.

Professor Voskressenski co-directs the joint program ‘German Studies Russia’ of MGIMO University and Freie Universität Berlin, and is a founding editor-in-chief of the national peerreviewed journal Comparative Politics Russia. He is author, co-author, joint-author and editor of 50 books; most recently Non-Western Theories of International Relation, Springer Global: Palgrave Macmillan, 2017, and Is Non-Western Democracy Possible? A Russian Perspective, Singapore: World Scientific, 2017). 13 of Professor Voskressenski’s publications are research monographs published in Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom and China, along with 400 book chapters, articles, essays, reviews and other writings published in many other countries including France, The Netherlands, Hong Kon, Taiwan and Korea. Professor Voskressenski won Best Book in Politics Award in 2008 and 2011, and Best Book in Social Science Award in 2011 in Russia. He is a recipient of the Russian Federation Government Award for Research and Education, 2014). Professor Voskressenski regularly appears on TV commenting on international politics.
